Begin your Langkawi hiking journey with Gunung Raya, the island's tallest summit. This 7.9-kilometer round-trip hike winds through deep woods and provides panoramic views of the archipelago. It is commonly regarded as a difficult route because it takes an average of 4 hours and 30 minutes to complete.

The trail usually starts at the base of Gunung Raya. You'll notice the trailhead or signboard that will direct you to the starting location which is near the Gunung Raya Resort. Although trails in Langkawi are generally well-marked, it is always a good idea to learn the route before starting your journey!

The route is available all year and is a great place to come at any time. Furthermore, it is a popular hiking area, so you will most certainly come across other people while exploring! 2. Gunung Machinchang Trail

Explore this 5.8-kilometer out-and-back Gunung Machinchang hike, which takes around 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete. Gunung Machinchang, Langkawi's second highest peak, is a difficult walk to the top.

Hikers are likely to see no leeches and nearly no bugs during the dry season. During the wet season, however, leeches are common, and the trail can become treacherous!

The base starts at the summit of Seven Wells and immediately follows the river upstream, crossing it on solid bridges numerous times. 3. Telaga Tujuh Waterfall

The walk also starts at Oriental Village, the famous Langkawi Cable Car ride's base station. It will take you through the dense jungle all the way to Gunung Machinchang's top!

5. Bukit Kechubung Trail

Bukit Kechubung is a 2.6km out-and-back trail that takes 60 minutes to complete on average. This route goes through a forest, so you'll get a taste of what it's like to do jungle trekking in Langkawi!

Although it is only a 2.9km out-and-back path, it is regarded as one of the most difficult routes for hiking in Langkawi! We don't recommend it for beginners because there is a lot of climbing. The journey takes approximately 3 hours, depending on your abilities!

This path will take you to the Wat Koh Wanararm temple, where you will find a golden statue of Buddha. Take note that certain areas of this route are rather steep, slippery and muddy in parts, especially during the rainy season, so proceed with caution!
